Burberry Backs Hoodies

Burberry, the brand of choice for celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Victoria Beckham, has spent the last few years  desperately de-checking its clothes and accessories to distance its brand from the chav invasion.

It wasn’t so long ago that the iconic black, red and camel check was the emblem of anti-social British youth. But imbued with a new subtlety, the brand is surging ahead of its luxury competitors as evidenced by its second quarter results, which tellingly revealed that Burberry’s new Autumn/Winter line is going great guns.

CFO Stacey Cartwright bragged that one of Burberry’s hottest sellers this Autumn is its range of snoods, the tubular scarf impersonator that can be hoisted onto the head like a faceless balaclava.
